Black Hole Formation from Massive Scalar Fields
It is shown that there exists a range of parameters in which gravitational collapse with a spherically symmetric massive scalar field can be treated as if it were collapsing dust. This implies a criterion for the formation of black holes depending on the size and mass of the initial field configuration and the mass of the scalar field. متن کاملBlack hole formation from massive scalar field collapse in the Einstein–de Sitter universe
We study the spherically symmetric collapse of a real, minimally coupled, massive scalar field in an asymptotically Einstein–de Sitter spacetime background. By means of an eikonal approximation for the field and metric functions, we obtain a simple analytical criterion—involving the physical size and mass scales ~the field’s inverse Compton wavelength and the spacetime gravitational mass! of th...
متن کاملMassive Black Hole Growth and Formation
I review current difÞculties in understanding the origin of the supermassive black holes we now think reside in almost all normal to large galaxies. For example, it is not obvious how so much matter can be rapidly packed into such a small volume so as to produce the accreting supermassive black holes observed out to redshifts z > 6, when the Universe less than a tenth of its current age. I then...
متن کاملVacuum Polarization of Massive Scalar Fields on the Black Hole Horizon
Vacuum polarization of massive scalar fields in a thermal state at arbitrary temperature is studied near the horizon of a Reissner-Nordström black hole. We derived an analytic form of 〈φ2〉 approximately in the large mass limit near the black hole horizon. We uses the zeroth order WKB approximation and power series expansion near the horizon for the Euclideanized mode function. Our formula for t...
متن کاملStatic Black Hole dressed with a massive Scalar field
A four-dimensional static black hole solution of Einstein equation conformally coupled to a massive and self interacting scalar field is obtained. A nontrivial scalar solution proposes a weak scalar hair. A dressed black hole shows a trace of scalar charge in the metric signalling the presence of scalar hair. A number of metrics with regular horizons and temperatures are also proposed. PACS num...
